Aliaga 2 March
2 March: I took off as planned the 1 March. Going via Edremit to Ayvalik. 94 km was a bit too long for the first day and I can now feel it in my sweet little bottom. Ayvalik is a pleasant little town, I found a simple hotel in the harbour with a terace all the way to the sea for 20 Euro. I can really recommend Ayvalik. The weather has improved a lot and in the afternoon it was full sun. I feel it on my cheeks now. I will do some writing now in the morning and at lunch I will take off again. So this day I will take a short ride.
In the evening: In the end I took a longer ride - 98 km - and ended up in a not so pleasant hotel (but what do you expect for 15 Euro!?!?!) in Aliaga. Have had a nice fish and now enjoy free wireless. In the end there are quite a lot of internet cafés and the like in Turkey. I try not to connect to often though, as it takes off focus both from where I am and my writing. Weather has been great both today and yesterday. Perhaps in the range of 12-14 degrees and full sun. I changed from my wollen cap to the baseball cap with the East African Organic mark today, and skipped the long john and the gloves. Jacket was open most of the time.
The road is wide, 2 lanes in both direction, but there is not too much traffic. I guess that in the holliday season there must be a lot of traffic. Unfortunately the road is not laid out very nicely. It cuts hills in a bad way and in many places it goes just along the waterfront, cutting off the houses on the other side.
