Leaving Turkey - lämnar Turkiet

I was actually a bit surprised that they had mixed schools in Turkeym, but it just shows my prejudice. As I have written before, Turkey is a pretty modern countru where people to a large extent behave in the same way as they do in other European countries. Of course, I have been in the more developed parts....
Traffic on Turkis roads is pretty civilized, I can¨t complain too much as a cyclist. If I compare withe Poland or Ukaraine it is more or less the same.
Re language: With normal people, German seems to be as useful or more useful than English. There are so many Turks working in Germany and there are many German tourists here. In the real tourist spots En English seems to rule.
I have already written about that the food is great and costs are low. You simply get good value for money in Turkey.
One very important factor is that people are very nice, honest and friendly. Mostly they are really generous. Those that are not directly involved in the tourism industry are never taking advantage of you, they are simply very helpful. I still remember when I stopped outside a hotel at 8 in the morning as the rain was pouring. It was closed for the season, but the caretaker invited me, made me tea and simply refused to take any money! And this is just one of many examples of how nice people have been.
I have stayed longer in Turkey than I planned. Tomorrow I go to Greece. I will go tjhe Kos and the Patmos, probably Santorini and finally to Pelleponesos, where Kolbjörn will meet me and we will bike a bit together.
This means that I will cross over to Italy first days of April
------
